eikon-ubuntu-24.04-image

Image definition for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble) deployed with Eikon

Supplies the image that the eikon-ubuntu-24.04 Pipeline deploys. That Pipeline binds this profile, so the OS it declares and the image it actually writes stay in agreement.

By default it pulls the upstream Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble) cloud image. That .img file is QCOW2 despite its extension, which is why eikon/image-type is qcow; Ubuntu publishes no .qcow2-named artifact for this release, so do not "correct" the URL.

Airgap / mirror: set eikon/image-base-url once for the endpoint and this resolves to <base>/ubuntu-24.04.qcow2 instead, with no change here. See that param for the full recipe.

A single machine can be pointed at a different image by setting eikon/image-url on the machine or on a profile attached to it - both take precedence over this one. Set eikon/image-checksum alongside it for a repeatable build; the upstream URL tracks the distro's "latest" and its contents change as the distro republishes.

No eikon/plan is needed. The image is a whole-disk QCOW2, so Eikon renders a disks[].image whole-disk write to eikon/install-dev from these params alone. Reach for eikon/plan only when you need a custom storage layout - explicit partitioning, LVM, SW-RAID, or multiple images.

Change eikon/install-dev when the target's OS disk is not /dev/sda (for example /dev/vda on KVM or /dev/nvme0n1 on NVMe).
