eikon-cloud-init-config¶

Configure cloud-init

Deprecated as of v4.16.14. Use eikon-nocloud-config instead, which is what universal-application-eikon-image-deploy runs.

No profile, stage or workflow in this pack references this task. It is retained only because a flexiflow task list names tasks by name, so an operator profile could still be calling it. It will be removed in a later release.

Two reasons not to use it:

• It writes image-deploy/admin-password, image-deploy/admin-username and access-keys into /curtin/meta-data in a directory created at the default umask, so the credentials are world-readable in the deployed image. That is the Linux case; on Windows the mode is discarded on NTFS and the inherited ACL governs instead.
• Its default user-data predates the fix for the empty-#cloud-config stub that broke cloud-init's init-local stage; eikon-nocloud-config has it.
