docker-context/host-startup-options¶
Host-level startup parameters for the container runtime.
This parameter provides extra startup flags applied to every container this
plugin creates on this box. It belongs on the docker-context plugin object
itself, not on a machine or a profile -- it exists for the flags a particular
host needs before any container will run correctly there at all: rootless
podman userns mapping, SELinux --security-opt, cgroup driver quirks,
--platform on mixed-architecture hosts.
A direct array of strings must be passed to specify these arguments. For
example, if you would like to pass --foo bar --baz "a b", the param value
should be ["--foo", "bar", "--baz", "a b"].
These options are applied last, after the machine-level
docker-context/startup-options and context/startup-options, and therefore
win. If you find you need a machine to override a host flag, that flag
probably belonged on the machine to begin with.
Nothing de-duplicates or conflict-checks flags across the layers. If a
machine sets --network host and this param sets --network bridge, both
appear on the command line and the container runtime's own last-wins behavior
decides.
This is a distinct param from the machine-scoped
docker-context/startup-options on purpose. Plugin Config resolution
aggregates the global profile, so a single name would be read twice -- once as
a machine option and once as a host option -- and the duplicated flags would
break container creation.
The default value is an empty array.
