suse-agama/network-method4¶
IPv4 network configuration method for Agama installer (SLES 16+)
Defines the IPv4 network configuration method for SLES 16+ installations using the Agama installer.
Valid values: - auto: Automatic configuration via DHCP (default, recommended) - manual: Manual/static IP configuration
IMPORTANT - RackN Recommended Approach: RackN does NOT recommend setting complex network configuration in the installer profile. Instead, keep the installer network simple (auto/DHCP) and configure production networking post-install using DRP's pipeline tasks:
- Use the 'net/interface-topology' and 'net/interface-config' params
- These are processed by the 'configure-network' task
- Uses SystemD NetworkD configuration
- All RackN pipelines include this task by default
This approach: - Keeps installer simple and reliable - Allows complex network topologies (bonds, VLANs, bridges, etc.) - Maintains consistency with SLES 15 AutoYaST approach - Follows RackN best practices
If you set this to "manual", you will need to provide additional network configuration parameters via custom templates, as the default Agama template only supports basic DHCP configuration.
This parameter is specific to Agama (SLES 16+).
