Troubleshoot Network Problems

Sometimes a machine is unable to communicate with the DRP endpoint to get instructions on what files to boot, or where they are located. When this happens Machine fails to boot into sledgehammer and just fails after pxe/ipxe

Solution

This is often caused by a NACL rule or Firewall rule that is preventing the communication, but it can also be a problem with DRP. To help diagnose if the problem is network related you will need to log onto the DRP endpoint.

Next run the following command and try booting the machine that is having the problem

Example

drpcli events watch '.serve.'

This command will show events from the file server. You should see requests coming in from the remote machine. If you do not see anything here the first place to check will be with your networking team to help find what firewall rules or NACLS have been altered or put in place that are preventing this from working.
